Stephen Meehan accepting Gold M_IT 2019
The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has won an M&IT award for the ninth year running, picking up the Gold Award for Best Overseas Conference Centre at the 2019 UK Meetings & Incentive Travel (M&IT) Industry Awards in London on Friday 1 March. This is the seventh time the venue has won gold, having featured highly in this category in the nine years since it opened in 2010.
“We are delighted to win this award again and we are grateful to everyone who voted for us. The M&IT Awards are particularly significant as they are voted for by UK event organisers, so this is a massive endorsement from our clients in the UK market, particularly given the strong competition this year,” said Stephen Meehan, Chief Executive of The CCD.
The M&IT Industry Awards are voted for by readers of Meetings & Incentive Travel Magazine, designed to recognise and reward excellence in the industry. The CCD, having won the Gold Award on six previous occasions, beat off stiff competition this year from five other convention centres including Fira Barcelona, Grimaldi Forum Monaco and the RAI Amsterdam.
The Gala Awards Dinner, hosted by television presenter Gethin Jones, took place at the Battersea Evolution and was attended by UK and international industry professionals. The CCD has won an M&IT award each year since its launch in September 2010, with this latest win bringing its total number of industry awards to 41.
The Convention Centre Dublin opened in September 2010 and is Ireland’s only purpose-built international convention centre. It is located in the heart of Dublin city, just 15 minutes from Dublin Airport.
