               Advancing the Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance

Hosted at the University of Galway, the 11th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV) brought together academia, governments, international organisations, civil society and industry to share the latest insights and experiences in the theory and practice of Electronic Governance.

The theme of the conference was "Transforming Digital Governance for Sustainable and Resilient Societies." A truly global conference, ICEGOV brings to each host country a state-of-the-art programme and exhibits a strong UN character by heavily contributing towards the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. This includes a sustained approach to gender balance and equal opportunities for people from developing countries through the UNU-EGOV Scholarships Programme.

The conference was supported by the Galway Convention Bureau. It was organised under the patronage of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, Government of Ireland, and co-organised by the University of Galway, the Insight Centre for Data Analytics and UNU-EGOV, the latter serving as the coordinator of the ICEGOV series.

The International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance had a strong sustainability focus:

• Responsible event planning was at the forefront, including initiatives such as going digital, sustainable marketing, eco-friendly transportation, and green catering and waste management.
• The conference was hosted at the University of Galway, a designated UN SDG Champion and leader in the implementation of sustainable procurement, planning, materials and practices.
• The conference research papers related to all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
   

The International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance focused on all 17 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Research papers on all topics relating to the goals were submitted. To date, a total of 14 proceedings volumes have been published by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) as a direct result of paper submissions to the conference."

ICEGOV stands for the International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance. It was conceived in 2007 as an annual gathering to bring together academia, governments, international organisations, civil society and industry to share the latest insights and experiences in the theory and practice of Electronic Governance (now more commonly referred to as Digital Governance).
