The World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM) has chosen Dublin as the setting for its congress in 2023. Fáilte Ireland’s Meet in Ireland team, together with the Dublin Convention Bureau, worked in conjunction with WADEM member Dr Malloy and Ronan Flood from Advantage Group to create the successful bid.
Fáilte Ireland supported all the bid documentation and travel to Toronto for Mr Flood and Dr Malloy in his role as conference ambassador, to present the bid to the Canadian-based association. Fáilte Ireland also provided supports during a second site inspection of Dublin city and its venues and were thrilled to receive the news that WADEM Congress 2023 would be taking place in Ireland.
"I am absolutely delighted that Dublin has been selected as the WADEM Congress Destination for 2023. I am very pleased to welcome my peers and colleagues to Dublin where we will deliver a superb delegate experience to include outstanding learning and networking opportunities. The Fáilte Ireland Conference Ambassador Programme greatly facilitated and supported our successful bid", said Dr Mick Molloy.
Ronan Flood also expressed his delight at winning the bid: "We are especially pleased with the approach Team Dublin used to win this bid and are grateful to the Dublin Convention Bureau for their invaluable assistance. We are looking forward to working with Dr Molloy and WADEM in the delivery of an exceptional congress in Dublin to over 1,000 delegates."
WADEM holds its congress every second year, and last year almost 800 delegates from 50 different countries attended the event held in Brisbane. The previous conference in their hometown of Toronto attracted more than 900 delegates from 60 countries. Fáilte Ireland is looking forward to welcoming the congress to Dublin and are confident that the Dublin Convention Bureau, working in partnership with Advantage Group, will give WADEM a MICE trip they will never forget.
