Day One

Arriving in style

Dining Room in Huntington Castle, Clonegal, Co. Carlow
Upon arrival, guests are whisked through Dublin Airport via the platinum arrival service and chauffeured in Mercedes mini coaches to Carlow in the south east of Ireland. At Huntington Castle, they will be greeted by owner Harry Durdin Robertson, a member of the family that has held residence in the castle for generations.

Harry will bring guests on a tour of the castle; including a visit to the Egyptian Temple in the basement, devoted to the worship of the ancient gods and founded by members of the Durdin Robertson family in the 1970s. Throughout the tour, guests will meet actors representing the Durdin Robertson family, who will bring the strange tales and colourful stories of the ghostly Huntington Castle to life.

A champagne lunch will be served on the castle grounds, before guests embark on a team-building treasure hunt with a difference. Designed to encourage problem-solving, the activity will see participants divided into teams to source missing ingredients for a mysterious, magical concoction.

Day One

Team Building

Exterior of Huntington Castle, Clonegal, Co. Carlow

Team 1 will hunt for mint with a local forager, while Team 2 visits the cottage of a local Poitín (traditional Irish alcohol made from potatoes) distiller. Both teams will learn more about the history of the castle in the process and explore the charming village of Clonegal.

Once all the ingredients have been sourced, both teams will return to Huntington Castle where one of the resident witches will prepare a delicious organic cocktail in her cauldron.

Pre-dinner champagne will be served in the castle drawing room before guests are called to the dining room for a gourmet meal, with soft musical accompaniment. After dinner, a fireworks display will add to the spell-binding castle atmosphere and celebrate a rewarding day of new experience and team work.

Day Two

Ghost Tours

St Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny

After breakfast at Huntington Castle, the group will depart for another day of haunted history on the Kilkenny Ghost Tour, in the medieval city of Kilkenny. Lunch will be served at Kyteler’s Inn, while the legend of Alice Kyteler, the first recorded person condemned as a witch in Ireland, is brought to life.
After lunch, the group will be brought to High Banks Orchard (where Alice is thought to have hid from persecution) to sample some delicious gins produced locally in the orchard. Their next destination will be luxurious Lyrath House Estate, a beautiful five star retreat nestled on acres of mature parkland on the edge of Kilkenny City.

Pre-dinner cocktails will be served at Bridie’s Bar and General Store at Kilkenny Castle, a charming watering hole with shelves stocked full of Irish artisan goodies. Kilkenny Castle itself is a dramatic medieval landmark, bursting with history and stories; the group will soak up the impressive atmosphere of the castle’s Medieval Room and explore its hidden nooks and crannies on a quick tour. A lavish banquet will be served in the dining room to celebrate a magical two day experience, with a choir to entertain guests and add to the memorable ambience.
