Embrace a Giant Spirit – Belfast and County Down
If you’re looking for an itinerary that never stops, this chock-a-block tour of Northern Ireland is truly ideal. Explore Belfast's famous maritime history as the birthplace of Titanic. Then set off to the scenic surroundings of breath-taking County Down, where the stunning Mourne Mountains sweep down to the sea. This luxury trip is perfect for groups of 50 to 100 and spans two Northern Irish focal points across four days. With its legendary history, energetic culture and delicious food, Northern Ireland is guaranteed to capture your imagination and leave you wanting more.

Day One

Discovering Belfast’s maritime history by bike

Hillsborough Castle Throne Room

Hit the ground cycling on this adventurous itinerary; the day kicks off with a Belfast Bikes tour to give you the chance to stretch your legs while discovering the city. The last stop is the world-famous Titanic Belfast Visitor Experience, based in the Titanic Quarter, Belfast’s famous maritime area. A hearty lunch follows at The Bridge, the Titanic Belfast’s VIP space, where a selection of Northern Irish gourment treats and inspired small plates will be unveiled.

That evening, relax into five star luxury with a seamless check in at the award-winning Merchant Hotel. Cocktails are served in their opulent bar before a fabulous Welcome Dinner in the pretty village of Hillsborough (just 20 minutes away).

The sumptuous surroundings of Hillsborough Castle — a current United Kingdom royal residence — as well as pre-dinner tours of the Royal Art Collection provide a glimpse into the living quarters of a working royal household. You then kick back with drinks in the Queen’s private drawing room, followed by dinner in the Throne Room — the perfect end to a truly special first day.

Day Two

Creative Belfast: mural painting and Northern Irish fare

Interior of Ballywalter Park
Did you know that Belfast is famous for its street art? Start Day Two learning about where the tradition of mural painting has led us, with a walking tour that showcases the flourishing international street art scene.

Freshly caught Northern Irish fare will be served for lunch, with seafood chowder or ‘boxty’ on the menu in one of Belfast’s oldest eateries (dating back to the 1700s). Literary fans are ready to be enchanted by the next activity; a CS Lewis Narnia-inpired tour to see how the city inspired much of this famous East Belfast author's work.

Dinner tonight is a 40-minute journey to Greyabbey and to Ballywalter Park. A warm welcome awaits from Lord and Lady Dunleath themselves, who are the group’s hosts for their private dinner in their home. As a special touch your company logo can be created into a flag and flown on top of the house so you arrive to a ‘wow factor’ moment.

Day Three

From bread-making to Game of Thrones in County Down

Breadmaking at Tracey's Farmhouse Kitchen
Day Three sees the group departing Belfast for the peaceful surrounds of County Down, where you're greeted by your host — Tracey from Tracey’s Farmhouse Kitchen. With lots of Northern Irish banter and chat on the way, roll up your sleeves for a home baking experience to remember. Taste the techniques that make Irish bread-making so great.

A choice of two optional afternoon activities for Day Three include:

– Entering Game of Thrones Territory, the ultimate visitor experience for fans of the world’s biggest TV show. You have the run of Castle Ward, a stunning National Trust property, and the location of filming of Winterfell Castle. Enjoy behind-the-scenes experiences, dressing up, tours of the filming locations and lots of fun replicating your favourite characters’ ‘moves’ with long bow archery and axe throwing.

– Visiting Shortcross Distillery, Northern Ireland's first gin and Irish single malt whiskey distillery. Set in the heart of the Rademon Estate first enjoy a locally inspired cocktail based on the ground's botanical delights – fresh tastes of apples, elderflowers and wild clover – before an exclusive tour of the craft distillery.

It’s then off to check into the charming 4-star property that is the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa. Located in the pretty seaside town of Newcastle, Northern Ireland’s largest mountain range watch how the Mournes majestically roll down to meet the Irish Sea. Fresh food at the ready, dinner is hosted in a popular local seafood restaurant in the small fishing hamlet of Dundrum.

Day Four

Embracing well-being in County Down’s wilderness

Views of Royal County Down
For all you early bird foodies, we suggest a dawn seashore foraging trip that will be used for the evening meal, in the company of chef Paul Cunningham, BBC TV’s Great British Menu NI finalist and co-owner of Brunel’s Restaurant.

Join expert mountain guide Peter Rafferty as he stretches your imagination and your legs as you follow rocky paths at a gentle pace, stopping for breaks to take in the sights and sounds of this special mountain range to enjoy a Men of Mournes experience.

Lunch is a gourmet picnic style affair with unrivalled vistas. Late afternoon there’s time for a golf clinic at one of the top golf courses in the world, Royal County Down, located right next to the Slieve Donard Resort & Spa. Or how about a spa treatment or a soak in the island of Ireland’s only seaweed baths?

Dinner is a short hop across to Brunel’s restaurant for an evening of locally sourced ingredients in beautifully presented dishes – all foraged with some of your help. Finally, learning Irish dancing gives you the chance to round off this authentic experience with some true spirit.
