Dingle Skellig Hotel, one of Dingle’s
most iconic landmarks, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. To mark the celebrations, the hotel has completed a multimillion-euro development that features some fantastic new amenities for MICE guests visiting the region.
The development includes 32 brand new guest rooms, 5 of which are stunning rooftop rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies with panoramic views across beautiful Dingle Bay. In addition, there are now 6 Deluxe Executive Sea-View suites, 16 Deluxe King rooms and 5 Deluxe Family rooms.
The Blaskets Bar and Bistro has also been refurbished and divided into two separate dining spaces: a light-filled central area called The Atrium, and a comfortable and cosy multi-purpose area known as The Binn Bán Brasserie.
The newly developed rooms and dining areas were designed by award-winning architects Meitheal Design Partners in Cork. Partner and Lead Architect Luke Hickson commented, “Our vision for the new build was to utilize the stunning views enjoyed from the hotel…The focus of the interior theme was very much on textures and a sense of craft that reflect the wild landscape beyond.’’
In the 50 years since the hotel opened it has welcomed guests from all over the world, including the cast of the 1970 film Ryan's Daughter, who filmed the Oscar-winning movie nearby on the picturesque Dingle Peninsula.
Today, the hotel is one of the many features that make Dingle a thriving MICE destination, along with its breathtaking scenery and plethora of leisure activities. The hotel boasts 152 guest rooms, a 17m swimming pool, an exercise and fitness suite, a spa with jacuzzi and steam room, an outdoor hot tub, and extensive banqueting facilities. For larger gatherings many of the rooms have interconnecting options.
With landscaping of the guest car parking and public exterior areas completing the redevelopment, Dingle Skellig Hotel is not only ready for this busy summer season but for the many special events and conferences that are held in the Dingle region every year.
Graham Fitzgerald, Dingle Skellig Hotel General Manager said, “We are very proud of what has been achieved in such a short space of time. We look forward to welcoming guests to this very special part of the world – to stay with us, to eat with us, to enjoy their time in Dingle with us”.
