A new £150m bypass was officially opened on Thursday the 29th July by Northern Ireland’s regional Development Minister Conor Murphy, five months ahead of schedule. This new road improvement means the journey time by car from Dublin to Belfast is less than 90mins!
The opening of the new bypass at Newry brings to an end almost 20 years of work to create a continuous dual carriageway between Belfast and Dublin and will provide a smooth commute for both Republic of Ireland based business travellers and international visitors arriving in Ireland via Dublin but wishing to visit or do business in Northern Ireland as part of their stay.
Northern Ireland already has many attractive features for business visitors including its continuing value for money, Belfast’s range and quality of conference and meeting venues and a growing number of unique and unusual venues which have appeal for both incentive groups and conference organisers looking to impress with the out of the ordinary. Derry~Londonderry’s recent success in gaining UK City of Culture 2013 status is also likely to increase visitor numbers travelling to Northern Ireland. These existing features, combined with this new improved ease of access for visitors travelling from the Republic of Ireland mean Belfast and Northern Ireland should be high up on every business visitor’s check-list!
