Dublin's Doorstep & Kilkenny

 
 

Day One

  • Arrive Dublin International Airport


  • Luxury Coach pick up. Today we’ll experience a wealth of Culture and Heritage in the Royal County Meath. Our first stop is Newgrange one of Irelands UNESCO World Heritage Sites for a private tour.


  • Next we travel to Slane Castle on the banks of the Boyne, playground and host venue to stars like Mick Jagger, Bono and Robbie Williams, for a sumptuous lunch.


  • Transfer to our overnight accommodation in Carton House Hotel. This modern luxury destination located just 20 minutes from Dublin airport, has been tastefully restored from a historic mansion which was home to the Earl of Kildare. The resort is home to two top Irish golf courses, The Montgomery Course and The O’Meara Course.


  • Test your team building skills with blind fold driving by Extreme.ie on the grounds of Carton House.


  • You will have some time to relax at the hotel before the gala dinner in the Gold Salon.

 Day Two

  • Breakfast in private dining room


  • Departure for Hot Air Balloon Ride in the scenic Heritage Town of Trim.


  • Transfer to Dunboyne Castel Hotel for a summary presentation on the region you have seen and a light lunch before travelling on to the Medieval City of Kilkenny.


  • In Kilkenny we stop at St. Canice’s Anglican cathedral, built in 1280 on the site of the original monastery, the cathedral remains an important historical place of worship. A local performer will present a short choral performance to highlight the amazing acoustics of the cathedral.


  • On to Mount Juliet Estate, your luxurious accommodation for the evening. The vast estate of Mount Juliet boasts one of the best golf courses in all of Ireland, along with the Ballylynch Stud Farm breeding top class horses, and the South Kilkenny Hunt beagle pack – enjoy a leisurely tour of the estate before changing and short transfer to dinner in Kilkenny city.


  • We start with a visit to Smithwicks Brewery which celebrates 300 years this year on the same site. Sample a tutored beer tasting and then cross the street to Rothe House for dinner. Built in 1594 and restored in 1966 and now an important museum & library.

Day Three

  • After breakfast at leisure we leave Mount Juliet to experience the arts & crafts skills of the artisans of Kilkenny.  Visit Jerpoint Glass and see glass blowing experts, and try it yourself of course – on to a pottery to create your own masterpiece – see close up the skills of goldsmiths and milliners all in a pleasant nice & easy morning much on foot in the historic old city centre.  


  • Enjoy a locally produced lunch from the food artisans of Kilkenny in the surrounds of Kilkenny Castle before back to Dublin Airport for departure.
