39th International EDTNA-ERCA Conference: Education and Innovation in Renal Care

Custom Ireland were chosen via the Dublin Convention Burueau, in early 2009 to assist in a number of substantial areas for this annual conference of the European Dialysis and Transplant Nurses Association with the European Renal Care Association. Czech-In, a Prague based PCO, has been the conference organiser for the past two terms.

Irish Ambassadors had attempted on two previous occassions to bring this association conference to Dublin. In both 1986 and 1990 these bids were declined due to a lack of Dublin accommodation and conference facilties. A renewed bid alongside the now complete CCD facilitated the conference for 2010.

This was the first International conference held at the Convention Centre Dublin less than two weeks after its official opening.

The Czech PCO and local ambassadors set out requirements including: transport services, local area tour options, language guides, simultaneous conference translation in five languages, local area conference hosts and assistance, welcome ceremony arrangement and the Association President's Dinner.

The conference took place over three and a half days with an Opening Ceremony on Saturday 18th September. The Irish President Mary McAleese made the opening address in the Convention Centre. Custom Ireland was responsible for liaison with the President's office as well as for organising a young Irish soprano for the event.
Provision of services by Custom Ireland over each of the days included 28 local staff and simultaneous conference translation into German, Spanish, French, Greek and Czech, and guided tours in multiple languages. Dedicated staff management was provided with prompt problem solving and liaison between delegates, PCO and the local ambassadors.
The Dining Hall at Trinity College provided the venue for the President’s Dinner including entertainment by two world class sean nós dancers and Irish musicians.
The final delegates departed in the early hours of 22nd September with Custom Ireland staff at hotels and Dublin airport to ensure a smooth farewell.
