21st Meeting of the European Society of Animal Cell Technology (ESACT)
The European Society for Animal Cell Technology (ESACT) meeting is held every two years. It brings together scientists, engineers and other specialists working with animal cells. The Conference Committee’s objective was to provide an exceptional scientific programme supported by a strong and motivational social programme.
A record attendance was secured at the conference staged in Citywest Hotel (7-10 June 2009) with 899 delegates (10% Irish), 77 exhibitors and 30 sponsors from 37 countries.
Such was the impact of the programme content and the proactive approach taken by Conference Partners to promote the conference, the demand for exhibition space far exceeded previous levels or initial expectations. Consequently, Conference Partners erected a marquee, linked to the conference centre to satisfy demand and accommodate all exhibitors. In line with Conference Partners’ Green Policy, all conference materials were recyclable, delegates were encourage to adhere to the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle mandate and to purchase carbon credits to offset the impact of their experience. A varied social programme was arranged to accommodate the tastes of all the delegates. Options included helicopter rides of Dublin, cultural experiences, golf lessons and competitions, and themed evenings.

"The result was unattainable without the enthusiam, management and willingness to go the extra mile that was experience by the Organising Committee from Conference Partners and their dedicated staff. Their teamwork turned out to be more like an orchestra playing a symphony in harmony." M.Comer
